There are now more than 5,200 hotels in China with a total of 700,000 guest rooms and 1.41 million beds to cater to the need of increasing tourists. These hotels are rated according to established international star-rating standards. These tourist hotels, star-rated ones in particular, bear the brunt of the flow of foreign visitors to China, providing them with food, lodging and many other services according to international standards.
As for tourist, normally we recommend the hotel with the level of or above three- star.

 

 

A hotel rated with three or more stars has the following:
-The rooms are cozily appointed and furnished, and the toilets are equipped with 110/220-volt electricity sockets and provide hot water 24 fours a day.
-Each guest room is equipped with an air-conditioner or central air-conditioning that is good enough to keep room temperature at a comfortable level.
-A telephone is installed in each room to allow the guest to make domestic or international long-distance calls through the operator.
-There is both a color TV set and a stereo system in each room.
-There are effective soundproof facilities, as well as curtains that can block the sunlight.
-Stationery appropriate to the rating of the hotel is available in every guest room.

 

 

The following facilities and services are available in hotels rated with three or more stars:
Chinese restaurant, Western restaurant, café, banquet hall, ball room, massage parlor, store, beauty parlor, meeting hall, commercial center, gym, florist's shop, clinic, parking lot, bookstore, credit-handling and foreign exchange conversion center, DDD and IDD telephone services, room service, child care, facilities for the disabled, karaoke hall, KTV room, chess and card playing room, billiards room, and ping-pong room.
Some four-star or five-star hotels are also equipped with swimming pools, bowling alleys, tennis courts, squash courts, golf courses, saunas, safety-deposit boxes, as well as facilities for fishing, boating, horseback riding, hunting, sharp shooting and other sports.

 

 

For all hotels in china, check-in time is 2Pm, no room is guaranteed before this time. So better plan to arrive at hotel after 2pm. If you check in earlier, sometimes you have to wait for a long time in the lobby for room to be ready.
As for check out, you have to check out before 12:00 to avoid being charged extra. If you check out between 12:00 and 6pm there is a charge of 50% of the room price - after 6pm you have to pay for another full night.

 

 

Laundering service is available in your hotel and cruise ship. You will fill in a laundry form and then put this form and your cloth for laundry in the laundry bag in your room. Then you call the laundry service of the hotel, a laundry attendant will go up and collect your cloth. They will be delivered back to your room after finished. Normally if you have the laundry done in the morning, they will be finished in the evening. But you can ask for the express service if you need your cloth back quicker.
You can pay the fare for the laundry when you check out.

 

 

Most 4-star and 5-star hotels provide internet access service in your room. You can also go to the business center of the hotel to access the internet.
