Banyan Tree Holdings is a leading manager and developer of premium resorts, hotels and spas in the Asia Pacific, with 23 resorts and hotels, 65 spas, 65 retail galleries, and two golf courses. When it says ‘premium’ it means just that. In style the resorts are reminiscent of the Amandari in Bali which was founded by arguably the greatest resort creator in Asia, Adrian Zecha. I cannot find a link between the two but it would not surprise me in the slightest.

Banyan Tree Tianjin is the Group’s third addition to its network of city hotels in China — Banyan Tree Beijing and Banyan Tree Shanghai.

Please note the word ‘city’ because Banyan Tree is in China in other forms. Our illustration is of a bedroom in Banyan Tree Ringha, Yunnan Province. The Ringha Tibetan Village in the town of Zhongdian (China’s official Shangri-La) has just opened and there is also the Banyan Tree Lijiang.

The new hotel is located in the He Bei district in Tianjin, and is approximately 15-minutes from the city center by car and near to the area’s financial, entertainment and shopping hubs.

Banyan Tree Tianjin will be part of an integrated development that will include residential units, office space and commercial and retail outlets.

Occupying 16 storeys, it will have around 200 large-sized suites, a wide variety of food and beverage outlets as well as business and conference facilities.

The development should be completed by 2011.

These new developments are not expected to have any material financial impact on the Group’s earnings and its net tangible assets for 2008.
