China airlines to raise fuel surcharges for domestic flights as oil prices rise
2008-06-29

Chinese authorities will raise fuel surcharges on airline tickets in China to help cover rising fuel costs, the state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Monday.

In a policy to start Tuesday, passengers on domestic flights of more than 800 kilometers (497 miles) will pay 150 yuan ($22) for fuel, up from 100 yuan. Passengers on shorter flights will pay 80 yuan, up from 60 yuan.

The Xinhua report cited China's Civil Aviation Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission.
